This stunning property has state of the art features and is the perfect base from which to enjoy coastal resorts and walking trails.

Trafford House is a stunning detached property, one of five individual, architect designed executive homes built by the current owner and situated within the historic Trawsgoed Estate, where Trawsgoed Mansion sits. Trawscoed (Welsh for Crosswood) Estate and Mansion, located about 8 miles east of Aberystwyth, has been in the ownership of the Vaughan family since 1200 and has a fascinating history. In has been the family seat of the Earls of Lisburn for many generations, and in the late 19th century was thought to be the largest estate in Wales. Edward VII, Edward VIII, Winston Churchill, Stanley Baldwin and William Gladstone are all recorded as having visited the Estate.
Trafford House sits on a sizeable plot with a large private lawned garden, and there’s ample parking so families and friends can meet up together. The house has been luxuriously appointed and features a state of the art efficient ’tri-heating’ system. The spacious living room centres around a feature fireplace with wood burner, and to the other end there is a pool table, perfect for enjoying competitions! The kitchen and dining room is equally sociable, with a large central island with bar stools and bespoke built in seating. Here you will appreciate the luxurious finish of the marble floor, granite worktops and very high quality appliances, including a steam oven, eye level dishwasher, induction hob, instant boiling water on tap for hot drinks and an American fridge/freezer with ice dispenser. Huge bi-fold doors bring the outside in, and a large granite topped table on the patio is perfect for al fresco dining. The bedrooms are equally spacious and well appointed, and the bathrooms have been luxuriously fitted too.
The Estate shares a border along the River Ystwyth (fishing available) and the beautiful Hafod Estate, fantastic for walking. From the house you have direct access to a cycle path, part of the Sustrans Ystwyth Trail, which connects to Aberystwyth, on the shore of Ceredigion’s Bay, with Tregaron in the northern Teifi Valley. Substantial sections of the Ystwyth Trail follow the track of the old Great Western railway line. All of the Ystwyth Trail is suitable for walkers and offers access to circular walks around Trawsgoed, and several level sections are suitable for less mobile people or those with disabilities. Aberystwyth to Llanfarian, for instance, is almost all on a tarmac surface. Just north of Tregaron, 12 miles, a circular route across the stunning Cors Caron National Nature Reserve offers accessible walking via level boardwalks to the bird hide.
Visit the mines at the Silver Mountain Experience, 12 miles, an adventure day out with the Black Chasm experience and the fascinating Time Lab. Devil’s Bridge Falls, 8 miles, is a world famous tourist attraction where the unique waterfalls and trails provide a unique opportunity to see this great natural feature in the Rheidol Gorge. You can travel by steam train between Aberystwyth and Devil’s Bridge, and appreciate the scenery without being too strenuous. The seaside resort of Aberystwyth has lots of shops, cafés and restaurants, but also has a pier and promenade, and boasts the longest electric cliff railway in Britain. Take a trip to the summit and enjoy a coffee and cake whilst taking in the breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay. There are over 60 miles of coastline, lovely beaches (many dog friendly all year round), coves and seaside towns to enjoy.
Tregaron, 12 miles, was once a strategic point for drovers taking their animals to markets in England, and is a quiet market town at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains, with an award-winning inn and restaurant that is well worth a visit. Whilst you are here, why not pop into the Welsh Gold Centre, which sells Celtic inspired designs. If you can drag yourselves away from lovely Traffor...
