Castle View was built in 2022 to a high specification with open plan living space. It is set on a working farm and has a beautiful kitchen area with integrated appliances, a dining area, a cosy living area, floor to ceiling bi folding glass doors with electric blinds and magnificent views over the black mountains. There is also a utility room, master bedroom with super kingsize sleigh bed, electric blinds, patios doors leading to the large patio area and a fabulous bath with shower over, ideal for watching the open countryside whilst having a soak! The second bedroom has zip and link twin beds which can be a super kingsize bed on request. A family bathroom with blue tooth speakers in the bathroom mirror completes the picture.
The lodge has underfloor heating throughout, and to the rear is a large patio area with firepit, garden furniture and a private hot tub. There is a balcony that is accessed from the patio area with garden furniture, perfect for an evening drink and taking in the vast views that this fabulous property has to offer. The games room with table tennis will keep the family entertained, and there are solar panels to generate the electricity.
Enjoy extensive views of the Begwn Hills, the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, along with woodland and wildlife. The location is a must for nature lovers with red kites and buzzards often spotted, and up on Painscastle Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the lodge, there are red kites, grouse and curlews. Nearby is Rhosgoch Bog, a conservation area perfect for birdwatchers. At the highest point, known as the ‘Roundabout’ on the Begwn Hills, there are spectacular views, and you can see seven counties on a clear day.
The nearby town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for having close to 40 book shops, has plenty to keep you busy and one visit just isn’t enough. There are characterful antique shops and cafés, as well as many shops for those looking to discover a rare edition or bygone childhood book. Explore the atmospheric ruins of nearby Llanthony Priory, an early 13th-century Augustinian church which is open all year and entrance is free. Apart from being home to the internationally famous Royal Welsh Show, along with a host of other events, nearby Builth Wells offers everything from sports and leisure facilities to an 18-hole golf course, pony trekking and renowned angling spots.
